If Modi can't respect elders like Advani, how will he respect country: Congress on BJP 1st list

New Delhi, Mar 22 (IT): If PM Narendra Modi cannot respect Lal Krishna Advani, how will he respect the wishes of the people, the Congress posed to the Bharatiya Janata Party on Twitter. The tweet, by Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, was a reaction to the BJP fielding party chief Amit Shah in place of LK Advani from the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat.

Gandhinagar will go to the polls on April 23 along all the other 25 seats of Gujarat. Gujarat will vote in phase three of the seven-phase Lok Sabha polls. Results will be out May 23.

Today, the BJP released its first list of candidates for the 2019 Lok Sabha election. PM Narendra Modi will contest from Varansi while Smriti Irani will once again face-off against Rahul Gandhi from Amethi.

Rajnath Singh will contest from Lucknow, Nitin Gadkari from Nagpur, and Kiren Rijiju from Arunachal West.

The big name missing on the list was BJP stalwart LK Advani. BJP chief Amit Shah will contest from the seat instead, a development effectively signalling an end to Advani's storied political career.

To this, the Congress retorted saying PM Modi cannot respect LK Advani. "First, Shri Lal Krishna Advani was forcibly sent to a 'Margdarshak Mandal', and now they have taken away his parliamentary seat. If PM Narendra Modi cannot respect Lal Krishna Advani, how will he respect the wishes of the people?" Randeep Surjewala tweeted. "BJP bhagao, desh bachao [Remove country, save country]," said Surjewala.

While I feel sorry for Advani, I feel he is getting what he deserves. He is the one who started all this divide on communal basis and he is the one who is infamous for the Babri demolition. He has done enough to drive a wedge to create disharmony in the society between the majority and minority communities and it is, therefore, in the fitness of things that he is being treated the way Modi is currently treating him. It is another thing that had it not been for Advani, Modi would still be warming the benches in some corner of an RSS office. I don't subscribe to the way Modi has been so ungrateful to a senior person like Advani but then it is said that these days, one gets to experience heaven or hell on this earth itself. One doesn't have to wait to die to experience this. There can't be a better case than that of Advani to prove this.

Advani must be regretting to have started the Rath Yathra in 1990s. He is only reaping the fruits of what he sowed in his younger days. Let him repent for his crime of poisoning the innocent Indian minds with the poisonous RSS agenda.

Don't compare a man who has no respect for women, with a personality who made women as worship conductors of a temple of his locality.

On the contrary, Modi ensured he got photographed even while touching his mother's feet. So much for his publicity seeking.

    Fathima,

When RG came to M'lore, he hugged emotional Poojary with respect. Modi when on same dais with Advani, did not acknowledge the senior politician's folded hands(Namasthe) - Modi walked past him without even looking at the old man.

BJP and Congress are way apart when it comes to respect to elderly.
