Venom of hatred will destroy everything: Akhilesh

Lucknow, Mar 23 (IANS): Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday condemned the attack on a Muslim family in Haryana's Gurugram and said politicians who are trying to disturb the social fabric of the country are unable to understand that the venom of hatred will destroy everything.

"Whatever happened at the residence of Mohammad Sajid is beyond imagination. The political leaders who are behind such incidents are unable to understand that hatred is such a venom that will destroy everything," he tweeted in Hindi, attaching a news report about the attack on the Muslim family on Holi (Thursday).

His remarks came a day after a video of the brutal physical assault surfaced, showing around 40 men mercilessly beating up four men.

Police have arrested six men and registered a case against them for attempt to murder at the Bhondi Police Station. They are trying to identify the other attackers.

On Thursday evening, the victims, who belong to the minority community, were playing cricket outside their residence in Bhup Singh Nagar.

The attackers, who were in a drunken state, first ordered them to stop playing cricket on the street which was followed by a heated exchange of words. Next, the assailants attacked the victims with batons, swords, iron rods, hockey sticks and water pipes, police said.
