Indian, Pakistani armies clash on LoC in Poonch


Jammu, Mar 23 (IANS): The Indian and Pakistani armies exchanged heavy fire on the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.

Defence Ministry spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand said, "At about 5.30 p.m. today the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation on the LoC in Poonch district."

"They used mortar shelling and firing by small arms to target Indian positions," he said, adding that our troops are retaliating effectively.

The firing is still continuing.
