Italy supplies ambulances to cities, towns across Libya

Tripoli, Mar 26 (IANS/AKI): The Italian Embassy in Libya is giving highly equipped ambulances to cities and towns in several areas of the conflict-wracked country, it was announced on Monday.

The ambulances will go into service in the northwest town of Garabulli and city of Zawiya, to the cities of Sabha and Ubari in southwestern Libya, the southeast Kufra district and to the Children's Hospital in the capital, Tripoli, according to a Facebook post by the Local Government Ministry.

Italy's Ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino, Libya's Health Minister Hameed Ben Omar and Local Government Minister Milad al-Tahir attended a ceremony to mark the handover of the ambulances, the Libyan Observer reported.

The ambulances are being supplied to Libya as part of the "Solidarity Bridge" programme launched by the Italian government, said the report.
