Bengaluru, Mar 27: A young man, identified as Sagar Jayaram, who took a Range Rover car for test drive was killed in an accident. His wife, who was also in the car, suffered fracture in the spine. The accident happened near Hoskerehalli toll booth on NICE Road in the afternoon on Tuesday, March 26.

Sagar's son, Samarth (6), friend-cum-business partner, Gautham, and driver of the demo car, Shivakumar, were also in the car at the time but all of them escaped unscathed.

The person who lost his life was Sagar Jayaram, an interior decorator. He was a resident of Girinagar here. His wife, Sandhya (27), stands admitted into a private hospital at Uttarahalli with fracture in the spine.

Sagar wanted to buy a Range Rover car and had arranged for test drive of the car from the Jaguar show room on Hosur Road. The car was moving on NICE road and was bound for Sagar's home in Girinagar when tragegedy struck shortly after 2.30 pm. A toll booth employee recounted that the car, which was moving at high speed, appeared to have gone out of control of its driver. It avoided hitting toll booths and hit the divider to extreme left of the road. Then the car hit the guard rails, mowed down a fence and fell ten to 12 metres down. People including toll booth staff rushed to help the accident victims as they feared that the car might catch fire anytime.

The police shifted the people in the car to BGS Hospital. Apparently Sagar was driving the car and demo car driver, Shivakumar, was seated in the passenger's seat. The hospital authorities found the victim brought dead. His mortal remains were shifted to Victoria Hospital for postmortem.

No brakes seemed too have been applied, going by the fact that no tyre marks were left on the road prior to the crash. Sagar Jayaram was bleeding from his face and ears. The people in the car were found to have fastened seat belts and air bags in the car had functioned.
