Uttarakhand minister named in FIR for abusing police


Dehradun, Mar 27 (IANS): The police on Wednesday said it arrested four persons and filed cases against state Education Minister Arvind Pandey and his supporters after he allegedly abused and thrashed policemen.

On Tuesday, the Uttarakhand police seized some vehicles of a businessman in Kashipur town of Udham Singh Nagar district. After hearing this, Pandey along with his supporters reached the Kundeshwari police post where he allegedly abused the in-charge, Arjun Giri, and other policemen.

It is also alleged that Pandey and his supporters roughed up some policemen.

"A total of 100 people have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for creating unruly scenes. We have also named 20 people, including Arvind Pandey, in different cases related to the incident," said a police officer.

Efforts are on to nab the other 16 accused.
