Man arrested for setting wife afire in Howrah


Kolkata, Mar 27 (IANS): A 39-year-old man from the Howrah district in West Bengal was arrested for burning his wife to death, police said on Wednesday.

Samir Karmakar, a resident of Liluah's Kunjapara, set his wife Rupali Karmakar afire on Tuesday, a Howrah district police official said.

"We recorded the woman's statement before she succumbed to injuries," he said.

The police is looking for the in-laws of the deceased based on a complaint lodged by her family members.
