EC to examine Modi's address to nation on Mission Shakti for poll code violation

New Delhi, Mar 27(IT): The Election Commission of India has said it is eaxmining Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to the nation on Mission Shakti over allegations of him violating the model code of conduct.

In a statement the Election Commission said: "The matter related to the address of the prime minister to the nation on electronic media today afternoon (March 27) has been brought to the notice of the Election Commission of India. The Commission has directed a committee of officers to examine the matter immediately in the light of model code of conduct."

The action came in response to a written complaint submitted by the CPI(M) over PM Narendra Modi's address to the nation today on "Mission Shakti".

"This announcement comes in the midst of the ongoing election campaign where the PM himself is a candidate. This is clearly a violation of the Model Code of Conduct," the letter stated.

Election Commission officials said they will find out if "national security" can be invoked by the ruling NDA over its urgency for PM Modi's address.

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora has instructed EC officials to carefully analyse PM Modi's address's transcript and that another review will likely be taken on Thursday.

Indian Express also quoted Election Commission sources as saying that they will look into the "origins" of the address to find out if preparation and coordination were done in the Prime Minister's Office or the defence ministry.

In his address, PM Modi said, "It is a matter of pride for all of us in India that Mission was accomplished using an indigenously developed ASAT missile."

"Outer space has today become a critical part of our day to day lives. It is no longer as far as it appears. A large number of Indian satellites are today orbiting around the earth helping our farmers, our fishermen, our students, our armed forces and our workers in different ways," PM Modi said.

The uneducated poor voters need to be told that when satellites are hit cash would flow from the sky. Otherwise they won't be moved by this news as they won't understand head or tail of this mission. Tell them some portion of 15 lakhs would be deposited in installments.

India had acquired the capabilities on A-SAT missile way back in 2012 during the UPA regime. However, the government had not made any efforts to seek political advantage of this achievement.

In 1974 'Smiling Buddha' achieved by Indira Gandhi, retested by late Vajpayee in 1998 with the code name 'Operation Shakti'.
Likewise, A-SAT achieved by UPA II during 2012, Modiji named it as 'Mission Shakti' and tested in 2019.

Whatever may be Election Commission of India decide, but the fact is PM Modi's BJP government after sacrificing CRPF soldiers in 'Pulwama' attack for political gain now using the anti-missile capability to garner sympathy vote using 'nationalism'.
Perhaps the young supporters of BJP in 20's now anything India achieved in 70 years of previous government.
The testing of 'Mission Shakti' is nothing but deflecting the voters from PM Modi BJP government failed policies and to save themselves from 'Rafale Jet' scam.

Modi asked Indians to watch his 'important message' around 11:45 am - 12pm. His speech started only at 12:30 pm. So much for punctuality. And wasted around an hour of my life.

And what was this 'important message' that the PM himself had to deliver ? on India's capability to now shoot down a low orbit satellite. On a scale of 1 to 100, how does this 'important message' help the common (or uncommon) person in their daily life ?

PM has become 'TV Anchor' from 'CHOwkidaR'. Arnab's job may be in danger. By the way, expect nothing to happen from the toothless EC whose salaries are paid by the government.

EC examining the speech is of no use. By the fact that it allowed him an address to the nation, the EC has failed in its duty and has shown that it is hand in glow with the govt.

Now all Indians know EC will give clean chit to Modi and accuse Rahul Gandhi for poll code violation. Indians have lost faith in all govt institutions from 2014.
