Indians love to have Idli as breakfast along with piping hot sambhar

New Delhi, Mar 28 (IANS): Idli is the most ordered breakfast in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Chennai, finds a study by food delivery app Uber Eats.

Idli is often eaten for breakfast along with piping hot sambhar and a variety of chutneys.

"Idli has been a top breakfast item that consumers love... It appeals to people of varied food preferences and is a popular comfort food for many," Deepak Reddy, Head of Central Operations, Uber Eats India, said in a statement on Thursday.

Data from restaurants across 38 cities that specialise in Idli and are known for unique variations of the dish show that Bengaluru consumes Idli the most, followed by Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad.

Globally, San Francisco, London and New Jersey were found as the top Idli ordering cities.

For the last three years, March 30 has been celebrated as World Idli Day. It is said to be the brainchild of Eniyavan, a popular Idli-only caterer from Chennai.

Uber Eats will be running special Idli offers and combos across Idli loving cities on World Idli Day, Reddy said.

Shekar Prasad Udipi, as you say people prefer now bread with butter ,mostly I think because of their comfort,as it goes fast and without much work. But most of Indians specially udipi and karnataka region ,love idli above any other snacks.(Even I prefer first )Only it needs some effort ,work time.Thatswhy people who go to work early do eat bread when no other option is there.

Parotha after all a first choice. South indians not much aware benefit of it. After eating four idlis...it will last for just half an hour and need to eat some other dishes along with it. For hard labourers never ever prefer idli..instead ragi mudde or ganjee. If really wants to eat idli at least need 15..at one go..along with good chutney..both.home made.
