New Delhi, Mar 4: Women "stranded" in the national capital need not worry now as they can dial 100 and a PCR van will drop them at their destination anytime of the day.

Delhi Police has instructed their officials to ensure that a call made to the PCR by a woman, who is unable to reach her destination, should be attended promptly during day and night.

"Earlier, we used to extend this facility in the night only. Now, we will help women in such situation during day time also," Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal said.

Dadwal also instructed that personnel in PCR vans should ensure that vehicles which develop technical problems are towed away to a nearby petrol pump.

On the ongoing drives initiated by Delhi Police, the commissioner said the cases of 1,422 women who approached the anti-obscene helpline in the past two months were settled while about 1,200 are pending.

"Not all the calls received at the anti-obscene helpline are related to women. Such calls are being diverted to departments concerned," he said.

Sixty-six per cent of the 88,525 domestic helps which the sleuths met in February during the servant verification drive have got their certification from police, he said.
