New Delhi, Mar 30 (IT): Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj on Saturday explained why she had added the prefix "Chowkidar" to her Twitter account name.
Sushma Swaraj said that she was a chowkidar, guarding the interests of the Indian nationals abroad.
"Because I am doing Chowkidari of Indian interests and Indian nationals abroad," Sushma Swaraj tweeted.
She was replying to a user who asked her why she was calling herself a chowkidar like the other BJP leaders.
"Ma'am, we thought you were our Foreign Minister. The only one most sensible in BJP. Why do you call yourself Chowkidar (sic)," the user had tweeted to Sushma Swaraj.
PM Modi changed his name on Twitter to add the prefix 'Chowkidar', as part of his #MainBhiChowkidar campaign.
After PM Modi, most of the Union ministers and the BJP leaders added Chowkidar to their names on Twitter including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and Smriti Irani.
BJP’s #MainBhiChowkidar campaign on Twitter garnered over 1.5 million tweets within days of its launch.
