Mangaluru, Apr 2: "We have to send a young and energetic youth to the parliament. Many names came for consideration at the screening committee. But the leadership of Dakshina Kannada unanimously supported for the candidature of Mithun Rai. Later the blessings of senior Congress leaders on Mithun Rai helped to spread a positive message in the district,” said Dinesh Gundu Rao, KPCC president in city.

He was addressing the media on Tuesday, April 2.

“Congress will win in the district because people are fed up with Hitler-style of rule of Narendra Modi. They are waiting to cast their votes and throw out Modi. Here in Dakshina Kannada, local MP has been only giving preference to provoking speech. He never raised his voice at the parliament on behalf of the people. He has not brought major projects to the district in his last two terms. Now the people have understood the failures of local MP and Modi government,” he added.

“During the time of last elections, Modi and his party gave many promises including 15 lacs rupees to every household. But after getting power Modi completely forgot his promises and started his autocratic rule. The economy of India has been completely destroyed by Modi government. India became world’s largest unemployed country. Modi and his tram tried to politicize the Neethi Ayog. They implemented GST in unscientific way and made a loss of Rs 4 lack thousand rupees for the government . Modi sold majority of government enterprises to private parties. Now when someone asks about development Modi has been struggling to give answer. He cannot talk about anything about development. So he fears to face the media,” Rao said.

“Nothing to offer more, he is into communal hatred and publicity now. He is silent on the issues of farmer, youths , students and women. He is going back to criminal politics. On the issue of candidature of Rahul Gandhi at Wayanad, he used communal hatred comments. He came to power with the help of lies and now he is continuing it in election campaigns also. I challenge BJP for an open debate on lies of Modi. I am ready to expose his lies in public,” Rao continued.

“Without consulting the opposition parties, Modi passed new election funding policy in parliament. It will help the parties to receive funds from anywhere and anytime. We clearly told that it will help to increase corruption. Now BJP received Rs 6000 crore from private organisations. As per new policy, no one can ask from where money has come from. Even if Dawood Ibrahim sends money to BJP, we cannot say anything,” Rao added.

“Modi is saying that he is a Chowkidar. In reality he is Chowkidar of fraudsters, rich and looters of the country. He is allowing fraudsters to run away from India. He thinks publicity will help him. But ground reality is different. People are eagerly waiting to give a full stop to corrupt and mafia rule. They know that Congress is only their saviour and they also know that it stands for development, humanity and for nation,” Rao concluded.

MP candidate Mithun Rai, leaders U T Khader, Harish Kumar, J R Lobo, Vijay Raj Alva, Kallige Tharanath and Kanachur Monu were present among others.
