Will ensure safe, peaceful voting: J&K Police chief


Srinagar, April 3 (IANS): Jammu and Kashmir Police chief Dilbag Singh has assured safe and secured environment to voters during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

He visited north Kashmir's Baramulla and Kupwara districts on Tuesday where he held detailed discussions with police officers regarding security during the first five phases of the Lok Sabha polls to be held in the state starting April 11.

"The state police has ensured peaceful elections in the past and during the upcoming elections also our forces will make all efforts to ensure a peaceful and secure atmosphere so that people could exercise their franchise without any fear," he told the media.

He said the state police is well-equipped and trained to face any challenge in the field.

He hailed his men for their achievements over the past year.
