Chennai, Apr 3 (IANS): The Income Tax (IT) department has sent its report on the search and seizure of large amount of cash in cartons and gunny bags from a cement warehouse belonging to a DMK official in Tamil Nadu's Vellore district, an officer said on Wednesday.
"We have given our report to the Election Commission in the specified format. We don't give any recommendations," a senior IT official told IANS.
He said on the face of it, it was clear the cash, amounting to about Rs 11.5 crore, was for distribution division and ward wise with the packets having the division and ward numbers written on them.
DMK Treasurer Duraimurgan's son D.M. Kathir Anand is the party Lok Sabha candidate for the Vellore constituency.
Duraimurugan has said the cash does not belong to his family.
The IT department has to trace the cash money trail.
