Mangalore, Mar 9: Mangalore Cultural Association, Doha which has already completed one year in community service, has initiated a fund to help orphanages in Mangalore and around. The fund consists of Rs 20 lac to help about 1600 poor children of orphanages towards their education.
In this regard, advisory committee member, well known NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist, Felix Lobo who is also instrumental in establishing MCA in Doha, met Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore on Sunday, Mar 8, 2009 along with another advisory member of the advisory committee Wilfred Fernandes from Doha, to present the cheque of Rs 5 lac as first part of the contribution to the orphanages in Mangalore. The fund will be distributed under the supervision of the Bishop of Mangalore.
Speaking to Daijiworld.com Bishop said that it is heartening to see associations like MCA doing yeoman service towards the community members back home, despite their struggle abroad. He blessed everyone who is involved in such charity causes. "When you think of a poor and contribute to his or her needs, God will pour you with double graces. God will bless you abundantly." He thanked Felix Lobo and all the members of MCA for taking such an initiative.
Felix Lobo has said that the prime concern of MCA is to help poor people. Many community members in Doha have contributed to the cause and MCA had organized Wilfy Nite last year to raise funds for orphanages.
