Huawei names Bi Yunfeng new CEO of India R&D centre


Bengaluru, Apr 4 (IANS): Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei on Thursday announced the appointment of Bi Yunfeng as the new Chief Executive Officer of the company's R&D centre here.

Bi succeeds William Zhao, who has taken up a leadership role in Huawei's Consumer Business Group in Shenzhen, China, Huawei Technologies India said in a statement.

The Bengaluru centre is Huawei's largest overseas R&D centre, focused on developing software for end-to-end telecom, IT and Cloud solutions, consumer devices, as well as providing professional services for global operators.

In his new role, Bi, who joined Huawei in 2001 as an engineer, will be responsible for leading the R&D centre's growth and competitiveness in new business areas.

His mission includes strengthening the research and development capabilities of the centre, establishing leadership in open source development and community contribution, and collaborating with the industry ecosystem to deliver competitive information and communications technology (ICT) solutions to customers all over the world, Huawei Technologies India said.
