PM Narendra Modi biopic release postponed, SC to hear petition on Apr 8

Daijiworld Media Network

New Delhi, Apr 4: The biopic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which was scheduled to release on April 5, will not hit theatres, confirmed film producer Sandip Ssingh on Twitter.

“This is to confirm, our film 'PM Narendra Modi' is not releasing on 5th April. Will update soon,” Ssingh tweeted.

Titled ‘PM Narendra Modi’ the film is directed by Omung Kumar and stars Vivek Oberoi as Modi.

Various sources reveal that the release is delayed as the certification has not yet come through and hence the producers are targeting April 12 as the release date.

However, many feel that the movie is a propaganda vehicle and petitions were filed in High Courts of Delhi and Bombay to stay the release. But on Monday, the High Court rejected the petitions.

Satish Gaikwad, the petitioner who moved to the Bombay High Court, filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court on Wednesday challenging the Bombay High Court's order. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the fresh petition seeking to defer the release of the film on April 8.

The movie traces Modi’s evolution through various phases of his life, including his enrollment in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, his long stint as chief minister of Gujarat, and his elevation as PM in 2014.

Besides Vivek, the film also stars Suresh Oberoi, Barkha Sengupta, Prashant Narayanan, Darshan Kumar, Boman Irani, Zarina Wahab, Manoj Joshi, Aanjjan Srivastav, Karan Patel and Akshat R Saluja.

Vivek Oberoi defended the movie and said that the release ahead of the Lok sabha elections was a mere coincidence. When questioned if the film was a propaganda, he shot back, “I don’t need to make him appear as a hero. He is a hero to billions of people across the world.”

its really bad to make use of film industry for election purpose. Moreover the veterans of industry should not misuse their name and fame for promoting a political party. Let them keep their views and opinions personal.

It is a bogus film of a flop hero, a flop producer and is made on a flop person who has proved to be a zero.
Earlier, lyricists Javed Akhtar and Sameer had accused the producers of falsely using their names in the credits even though they had no association with the film.
Directed by Omung Kumar, the film is set to release on 5 April. The timing of its release with BJP's black money was used to produce this film with an intention to help the BJP during the elections is very clear.
An investigation by Cobrapost website has exposed as many as 36 celebrities from the Indian entertainment industry, who agreed to promote a political party for money by posting favorable messages on their social media accounts to help create a favorable environment in the run-up to 2019 elections.
Actor Vivek Oberoi, who will be seen playing the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the biopic made his father Suresh Oberoi, was so eager to close the ‘deal that he was heard saying on the camera, “I would like to tell you to close the formalities before I leave so that I can start it from September, because after that I would go to Kerala and from there to Azerbaijan.
After Modi Bhakta's became fans of Candian Passport holder Akshaya Kumar it is now Vivek Oberoi turn. Ironically BJP has denied another comedian actor Paresh Rawal for the second time. Actor Akshaya Kumar who acted in BJP sponsored movies 'Toilet', 'Padman' has seen recently addressing the fan club in Toronto that he will invest his money in the city and settled down once he retired from the Bollywood assignment.

Some people are saying (rumours ?) that there are scenes about Modi leaving his wife depicted in the film, which hasnot gone down well with 'you know who'. So its actually BJP now stalling the release until after results are out.
