Wayanad, Apr 4: For every form of media in Kerala, and to some extent for the national media, Rahul Gandhi filing nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency was the main fodder on Thursday April 4. The Rahul - Priyanka duo has massively attracted the audience not only on TV and digital media but also on the ground in Wayanad where an oceanic crowd gathered at Kalpetta to witness the historic moment of Congress president filing his nomination papers.
Interestingly, an emotional tweet from Priyanka Gandhi Vadra about her brother has received a huge response in the social media.
Asserting that her brother Rahul Gandhi is the "most courageous" man she knows, the Congress general secretary on Thursday urged the people of Wayanad to "take care" of him.
"My brother, my truest friend, and by far the most courageous man I know. Take care of him Wayanad, he wont let you down."
The tweet received over 25,000 likes within a couple of hours.
Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by his sister Priyanka Gandhi and senior Congress leaders including K C Venugopal and Mukul Wasnik, submitted the nomination papers before the district collector A R Ajayakumar at the district headquarters in Kalpetta. Accompanied by his sister, Rahul Gandhi then held a roadshow amid a sea of people cheering him on.
In 2014, Congress candidate, backed by UDF M I Shanavas won the seat by over 22,000 votes. Shanavas got 3,77,035 votes, whereas LDF candidate Sathyan Mokeri received 3,56,165 votes. NDA candidate P R Rasminath managed to grab 80,752 votes.
