VHP to organise 'Vijay Mahamantra Jaap Anushthan'

New Delhi, Apr 4 (IANS): The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), which has decided not to hold any agitational programme on the Ram temple issue till the Lok Sabha polls, is all set to organise a "Vijay Mahamantra Jaap Anushthan" across the country on Saturday.

The event comes at a time when campaigning for the first phase of polling in 91 constituencies spread across 20 states on April 11 would be in full swing.

"The preparations for the Anushthan, which is also a nation-wide mass awareness programme, have almost been completed. The chanting of 13 crore vijay mantras will remove all the obstacles that have, till now, impeded the construction of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya," VHP Joint General Secretary Surendra Jain said in a statement.

He added that chanting of mantras on the very first day of the Hindu New Year (Nav-samvatsar) is very significant as it is "Anand Samvatsar".

According to the saints and astrologers, the sunrise of the first day of the "Anand Samvatsar" marks the beginning of the "Pushp" constellation which is considered the most auspicious occasion for "Sarv-Siddhi-Yog" (an auspicious time when one can accomplish everything). On the occasion, any resolution, which is pure and clean, will come true.

"This is why the saints during the Dharma Sansad organised in Kumbh had called upon all devotees to chant 'Shri Ram Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram' 13 crore times," the VHP statement said.

Earlier, talking to IANS, VHP spokeperson Vinod Bansal said that individuals and various organisations would gather at different places, including temples and chowks of villages, and chant the mantra.

The VHP leader said the target is to gather 13 crore devotees across the country.

VHP chief Alok Kumar will attend such an event in Delhi.

Bansal said that the event has no links with the upcoming elections and is not a departure from the VHP's announcement.

"This is a religious pledge for the construction of Ram temple. There is nothing political in it. Since the day is auspicious, we want to remove the obstacles in the way of Ram Temple construction by chanting the mantra," Bansal said.
