Mandya, Apr 6: One of the other Sumalathas who have entered election scene in this Lok Sabha constituency opposite cine actress, Sumalatha Ambareesh, has provided to the election commission a photo similar to Sumalatha Ambareesh, complete with spectacles, blouse, and sari. Her request to insert this photo in the electronic voting machines against her name has been upheld by the district electoral officer.

The list of candidates released under the signature of the district electoral officer contains this photo. While Sumalatha Ambareesh has been allotted No. 20 in the election, the other Sumalatha who has opted to dress up similarly has been given No. 19. As serial numbers of both of them are one under the other and both have dressed up similarly, there are possibilities of the voters getting confused. However, if the voters take care to properly identify the serial number and symbol to which they want to cast their votes, there will not be any problem.

It may be noted that three people with the name, Sumalatha, were fielded opposite Sumalatha Ambareesh. Reacting to the above development, Sumalatha Ambareesh accused her opponents of stooping too low level politics in a bid to defeat her.
