Mangaluru, Apr 6: A two day 'Mega Health Expo' organised by Indian Medical Association and AMC Mangaluru was inaugurated at Kadri Park on Saturday, April 6.

Mangaluru police commissioner Sandeep Patil gave start to the expo by cutting the ribbon of the main pavilion of the expo centre. Dr Sachidanand Rai, president, IMA, Dr Sudhindra Rao M, secretary IMA, Dr Vinay Kumar V, treasurer IMA, Dr A Divakar Rao, president, AMC, Dr Tajuddin , secretary , AMC, and Dr Prashanth B were present on the dais during the inaugural event.

In his inaugural address Patil appreciated the efforts by IMA and AMC for bringing medical related firms together under one roof. “Definitely it will help medical entrepreneurs, medical professionals, students and public. This expo is one of its kind and will benefit the public. I came to know that health insurance companies are also part of this expo. It will attract more people to this event. Providing treatment is the main responsibility of medical world but apart from that to give advice to public to lead a healthy life should be their mission. I hope the ’Mega Health Expo' will attract more people,” he said.

In his welcome speech Dr Sachidanand said, “The IMA and AMC organised the expo to create awareness among public. Majority of hospitals and medical centres are participating in this event. The expo provides medical assistance, advice to the public as well as creates a platform for medical professionals to exchange ideas, exhibit their specialties etc. It is a first of its kind event in city and is organised in a unique way. It is golden opportunity for the medical world and general public to get advice on health issues."

The reputed medical colleges, hospitals, medical centers, insurgence companies are participating in this mega expo. Fr Muller’s Medical College and Unity Hospital have special counters in Mega Health Expo. The two day event will end on Sunday, April 7.
