Udupi, Apr 7: Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy arrived in Karkala to campaign for Pramod Madhwaraj, the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru candidate of the Congress-JD(S) alliance on Sunday, April 7.
After inaugurating party workers meet here at Karkala, Kumaraswamy lashed out at the BJP. "The BJP is projecting as if there is no one other than Modi to protect our country. People from the coast who are educated must elect the right candidate. Few youth on the road chant 'Modi Modi' slogans but have they really got anything from the Modi led central government? Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shatri and Vajpayee too have protected the nation. The real credit must go to our forces. BJP and Modi must not use forces for electoral gains, he said.
“Institutions in Mangaluru are under threat due to Modi rule. Vijaya Bank is merged with Bank of Baroda and Dena Bank. Former PM Devegowda has contributed for the development of Vijaya Bank,” he said.
He also clarified that he never spoke about Pulwama attack. "Two years ago, a retired officer had spoken about possible war-like situation when elections are nearing. That is what I told," he said.
Speaking about high-profile Mandya politics, CM said that there is an attempt to defeat JD(S) in Mandya. “Attempts by others to defeat us will not be successful. Our candidate in Mysuru and Mandya will definitely win,” he said.
