BJP's promise of axing article 370 will lead to Azadi: Farooq Abdulla

Srinagar, Apr 8 (IANS): Reacting to the BJP's commitment to abrogate articles 370 and 35A of the Constitution, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah said on Monday that the move will pave the way for 'Azadi' for Kashmir.

The BJP manifesto released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah said the party would abrogate both articles if votes to power.

Reacting to this, Abdullah told an election gathering here: "Do they think they will abrogate Article 370 and we will be quiet? They are wrong.

"We will fight it. I think it is Allah's will that they are trying to abrogate it. Let them do it and it will pave way for our Azadi."

There are many public interest litigations pending in the Supreme Court wherein both articles 370 and 35A have been challenged.

While article 370 gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir, article 35A empowers the state legislature to define citizens of the state and their privileges.

Even though I am not supporting BJP, I fully agree with this. Article 370 should be removed permanently and who ever raise slogan against India they should be punished.

These Abdullahas, Mufties, Geelanis, Mirwaizs.... all these years have been enjoying life at the cost of Indian tax payers money with zero contribution to the state. Their only contribution was creating trouble in the state. This scrapping of articles 370 and 35A was long over due and if it was done earlier there would have been peace and development in the state. Those who oppose should be moved out to the place of their choice and leave others to live in peace.

What is the role of Amit Shah in this legislative decision?. There should be law making body, legislatures, army officers, home ministry personnel and state ruling govt should be involved in this meeting. Amit Shah has no public office portfolio. He is just a party president of a party which has abandoned J&K assembly. In all it is out of BJP's capacity to govern and impliment effective measures in this sensitive state. BJP's ideas only increase chaos in the state because for BJP their interest comes first.

Abdullas and Muftis family have prospered themselves through the resources they got from rest of India and have looted Kashmir.

They get agitated if the special status is removed because they cannot loot anymore.

It is long overdue that we treat Kashmir like any other state of India and bring normalcy.

Time to show them their place.
