Amritsar, Apr 9: The Pakistan government has released 100 Indian fishermen on April 8 as a goodwill gesture. They crossed over to India through the Attari-Wagah border on Monday.
They crossed over to India in the evening on the basis of 'emergency travel certificate' issued by the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. The Pakistani officials arrested the fishermen when their boats crossed the green line, the Pakistani boundary in the Arabian Sea.
A medical examination was conducted for all the fishermen immediately after the repatriation.
Earlier, Pakistan Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mohammad Faisal had said the country would release 360 Indian prisoners, 355 fishermen and five civilians in April.
