Dubai: ‘Financial Health Check’- Analyst Darshan Desai Speaks

Dubai, Mar 15: Underscoring the need for effective solutions to safeguard companies from the global downturn, Kanara Entrepreneurs Limited (KEL) yesterday hosted an interactive talk exclusively for its members on ‘Financial Health Check’ aimed at identifying perceived and potential business risks featuring one of Dubai’s most-sought after financial analyst, Darshan Desai.
The event was held at India Club, Dubai, and saw active participation by KEL members, who wished to understand what kind of significant risks their businesses were exposed to, especially during the recession. During his 90-minute presentation, Desai took his rapt audience through all aspects of operational, financial and auditing risks that would help them to better plan their business models.

In explaining various risk scenarios, Desai demystified the business jargon usually associated with financial terminology and gave a simplified hands-on approach to general and specific risks associated with small and medium businesses. He also focused on the need for an efficient and robust audit mechanism where internal controls could be improved or optimized.
Desai currently works as Senior Manager for Operation Risks at Emirates NBD, one of the leading banks in the Middle East. He has served previous stints at BankMuscat SOAG and KPMG Muscat.
Speaking at the event, Albert Rodrigues, current President of KEL, said that such relevant presentations, complete with the audit methodology, were important for upcoming and established entrepreneurs to plan their businesses with confidence and avoid any exposure to risks.

Desai was earlier welcomed to the event by Mr. Ivan Fernandes, Chairman and Managing Director of Ducont FZ LLC, and Mr. Charles D’Souza from Emirates NBD.
