Mandya, April 11: There were anxious moments in the car in which chief minister H D Kumaraswamy was travelling at Peehalli village, Srirangapatna on Wednesday night as fire was spotted there. The chief minister and others escaped unhurt.

The fire was seen in the Range Rower car when the chief minister was going to a KRS private hotel to take rest. As the engine became hot, smoke was seen followed by fire. Security staff helped the chief minister get down and sent him in another car.

Security staff and local people extinguished the fire. Police said that leakage of engine oil caused the fire.
