New Delhi, Mar 19: India's wholesale price index rose 0.44% in the 12 months to March 7, below the previous week's annual rise of 2.43%, government data showed on Thursday.
It was below a median forecast of 0.89% in a Reuters poll of analysts, and the lowest annual reading in the history of the current series.
The annual inflation rate was 7.78% during the corresponding week of the previous year.
The wholesale price index is more closely watched than the consumer price index, which is published monthly, because it covers a higher number of products and is released weekly.
