Thoothukudi (Tamil Nadu), Apr 17: Kanimozhi, senior DMK leader, today said that raid is an anti-democratic, deliberately planned and tested one and BJP cannot stop her from winning in the Lok Sabha elections by mounting pressure through income tax raids.

Following the raid that happened just 48 hours before Tamil Nadu election on April 18, the intelligence team returned empty-handed because of the incorrect input they received regarding cash stored in Kanimozhi’s house. IT sources said that it was a 'false tip' and no case has been registered.

"BJP cannot prevent my success through this income tax raid. The raid is anti-democratic, deliberately planned and tested and no document has been seized," Kanimozhi told news agency ANI in Thoothukudi, after the raids.

“After an hour long search, they left my place having found nothing. As my party chief M K Stalin said, we suspect that Tamilisai (BJP state president and Kanimozhi’s rival candidate) has crores of money at her home. We have seen videos of AIADMK leaders bribing voters in Theni. Will you go and search them?” she asked.

Kanimozhi was present in the house when the raids were being conducted and she cooperated with the central team. DMK supporters protested, raising slogans against PM Modi, as the raids were going on.

Party chief M K Stalin, when asked about the allegation of Rs 2000 notes being widely offered in the elections, said, "This is basically the murder of democracy...will you report this? In Theni constituency, 1000-rupee notes are being offered to voters, what about that? Tamil Nadu minister Velumani is accused of distributing money, his close aide Sabesan's house was raided, no one reported."

Last week, tax department officials conducted searches at Chennai, Namakkal, Tirunelveli and other 15 other locations in Tamil Nadu.

    Modi's vicious schemes will never bring any positive results as he thinks.
    People have fully realized the double standards he is following to fulfil his political aspirations
    There should be a limit. Law of the land should be equal to all and should not be based on preference or biased.

    Since when have IT raids become undemocratic.....

    The most purest surname going in political circles these days like I told you yesterday are the Gandhis
    and the Vadras. Top rankings they have. The pure ,shudh ,clean public life air of the Gandhis has rubbed off on R.Vadra and lo!. and he has also become cent percent pure. Next are the Chidambarams. All Pure 'Aura' fellows....
    All these have taken avtaars for benefit of man kind.

    @Bhandarkar. If you imagine that your BJP people are any less crooked you are clearly biased. As we know the general status quo is that There is honor among thieves. Quite clearly this is going to come back to bite the BJP when they are not in power.

    May be the raid has been organised just to stop her from winning the elections. That is possible. But there is no denying that this woman is one of the most corrupt in the country. All corrupt people should be proceeded against. And this raid should not stop with Kanimozhi. People like Amit Shah and Yeddyurappa too should be raided.

    Since most of the IT raids are carried out and assets attached of Non BJP parties and non allies, aggrieved parties will believe so. In many states Govt formed with less number of BJP MLA' s could easily cobbled other parties to form Govt's, they not having black money very unlikely but no raids!
    Level playing field and freedom many will not let go!
    Transferancy scenario will change and revenge politics likely to increase hereafter!
    Autonomous institution will find it difficult to work, unless a Mahatma is born to resolve!
