Suspended BJP MP Somabhai Patel to Contest for Cong

NEW DELHI, Mar 23: Suspended BJP MP Somabhai G Patel will be the Congress candidate from Surendranagar constituency of Gujarat, the party announced on 
Sunday.

Patel was suspended by the BJP before the Gujarat assembly elections in 2007, reportedly at the behest of chief minister Narendra Modi, for "anti-party" activities.

Three other senior BJP MPs were suspended along with him. Other candidates announced by the Central Election Committee of the Congress are Thokchom Meinya (Inner Manipur) and Thangso Baite (Outer Manipur).
