New Delhi, Apr 19: Varun Gandhi, BJP candidate and cousin brother of Rahul Gandi, said on Monday that Congress president Rahul Gandhi will not become the prime minister in the next two decades.
Varun Gandhi usually stays away from criticising his cousins Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi; however, of late, he seems to be making strong comments about his siblings in the rival camp by saying that they are no match to Modi.
When asked if Rahul would qualify as PM, he told India Today TV, "I am not an astrologer but I feel it is unlikely in the next 10-20 years. With Modi in the harness, voters would accept no one else for the top job.”
At the same time he described his relationship with his cousins as ‘courteous’ but ‘formal’. "See, whatever relation we have is because of my mother, she raised me under very difficult circumstances. My mother is my family,” he said.
As stated by Varun, Modi has uplifted the level of competition in national politics. "As a worker, I feel the country would keep voting for the BJP because of its grandeur." He said.
To slash the earlier rumors of him joining the Congress party, Varun affirmed his persistent faithfulness toward the saffron party by saying, "If I leave the BJP, it would be my last day in politics. I have an intense bonding with BJP."
