Sri Lanka mulling burqa ban?

Colombo, Apr 23 (IANS): With interrogation of suspects and other evidence pointing to the involvement of many women in the Easter Sunday bombings, the Sri Lankan government may end up banning 'burqa' and 'niqab', a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Quoting a highly placed government source, the Daily Mirror said the government was planning to implement the move in consultation with the mosque authorities and that several Ministers had spoken to President Maithripala Sirisena on the matter.

It had been pointed out that 'burqa' and 'niqab' were never part of the traditional attire of Muslim women in Sri Lanka until the Gulf war in the early 1990s "which saw extremist elements introducing the garb to Muslim women", the daily said.

Defence Ministry sources said that a number of female accomplices of the suicide bombers in Dematagoda, a Colombo neighbourhood where three policemen were killed, too had escaped wearing burqas.

Since the burqa is used to cover ulterior motives, terrorism activities and then to prevent identity of the Terrorists,
Sri Lanka Govt is definitely has the absolute right to prevent Burqa's misuse and banning it for the safety of its civilians!

Religion, whatever may be the path, is a set of rules and regulations which is practiced to experience peace within human conscienceness. A peaceful person never hurt another human being. If he is indulging in violence that means he is not experiencing peace. That means either his path is wrong or he has misunderstood the path. Only true understanding of Eternal Religion which will bring peace into this world.

No islamic countries have banned burkha, infact they(KSA) removed the mandatory clause from their law regarding to nikab( Face covering veil). In some of the countries like Austria,Canada,Denamrk etc the ban is imposed on wearing nikab in public places citing it may pose security threat, but it doesnt applies on burkha.

burka and niqab should be banned all over the world as it leads to destruction in disguise . Male extremists can finish the world all in disguised form. These fanatics should be punished severely they can't digest anything good happening or any celebration , they are being filled in India by anti-muslims for being so crule and antagonistic .
