Mumbai: Private bus driver dies of heart attack at wheel

Mumbai, Apr 28: A bus rammed into three other vehicles and no one suffered injuries after driver died while steering a private bus around 6.30am at Charkop on Saturday, April 27.

Sukhdev Sonawane (49) is the deceased. He was to ferry residents of a Jogeshwari housing society for an outing.

He had reached Garuda petrol pump in the bus when he had a heart attack and collapsed on the steering wheel. The vehicle rammed into a car and two tempos. But as the bus was not speeding, no one in the car and tempos were hurt.

Charkop police were summoned and Sonawane was rushed to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital, Kandivli. Doctors pronounced him dead, following which his body was sent for an autopsy.

Police recorded a case of accidental death.
