Dubai, Mar 31: Former President of India, A P J Abdul Kalam during his UAE visit on Monday March 30, 2009, mingled freely with the people and inspired Indians as well as other residents of UAE through his trademark charming smile and friendly manners with the people here.
The official launch of JSS International School in Al Barsha South, Dubai was one of the main reasons for his visit to Dubai. He inaugurated the institution and dedicated it to the students at the school campus on Mar 30, 2009, in the evening hours.
Speaking after the inauguration, Kalam said, creating an ideal education model is the need of the hour, as education empowers people with capacity for creativity, capacity to use high-tech, capacity to build entrepreneurial leadership, capacity to moral leadership and to improve the quality of teaching. He hailed JSS Educational Trust, which produces thousands of graduates every year and shapes their future.
Head of the JSS Trust and head of Adi Chunchanagiri Math, Mandya Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Bala Gangadhar Swamiji was the guest of honour for the day along with six other Swamijis, who had traveled all the way from Karnataka to grace this occasion.
Speaking to daijiworld.com, Jagadguru said, "The JSS Mahavidyapeetha is a socio-cultural institution that has dedicated itself to the development of culture, literature and education for the prosperity of the humanity. It has pioneered the concept of education as a tool for evolving social change. Education for all is the central theme and message of this Trust. From a humble beginning less than six decades ago, the Trust has grown into a social force that transcends boundaries and cultures."
"The Trust has established more than 300 institutions spread across India with overseas centres in USA, Mauritius and Dubai. In the field of school and collegiate education, medical and para-medical science, engineering, pharmacy, law, management education, Sahana Schools for the mentally and physically disabled children, school for the blind and the institute of speech and hearing, vocational training centres for the youth, professional training institutions etc., are being run by the Trust" he explained.
UAE's minister of education Dr Hanif Hassan Ali was the chief guest of the event. He extended UAE's wholehearted co-operation to Indian educational institutions in UAE and hailed Indian education system.
Venu Rajamony, consul general of India, Dubai, Lt Gen Musabbej Rashid Al Fattan, chairman Al Fattan Properties, maj gen Nasser Abdulrazk Al Razooqi, chairman of Al Razoqi group, were the other dignitaries on the dias.
