JAIPUR, Mar 31: Senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh was on Tuesday accused of distributing currency notes in violation of the model code of conduct during an election meeting at Gagaria village in Rajasthan's Barmer district where he had gone to campaign for his son Manvendra Singh this afternoon.

The complaint charging the former union minister with ditributing money among people at a poll meeting was lodged by the Tehsildar of Ramsar village, Barmer District Collector Ravi Jain said on the phone.

"The case is being examined, and video footage is being sought for verification from the rally point to find out if the money was given to someone or distributed among the public," the Collector said but refused to comment on it saying it was too early to do so.

Singh held a number of campaign meetings in parts of Barmer district including Gadraraod and Ramsar tehsils to drum up supoort for his son, he said.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee took exception to it as another example of money distribution to voters on poll eve and said it will submit a complaint to the state Chief Electoral Officer, RPCC spokesman Satyendra Raghav said.
