Apology shows admission of guilt: Lekhi on Rahul

New Delhi, May 1 (IANS): Hours after the Supreme Court on Tuesday pulled up Congress President Rahul Gandhi's counsel even after he verbally apologised for incorrectly attributing to the top court his "chowkidar chor hai" remark, BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi said this showcased an unequivocal admission of guilt by him.

Addressing a press conference at the Delhi party unit office here, Lekhi said: "This showcases nothing but an unequivocal admission of guilt by Rahul Gandhi, who deliberately and wrongly attributed these remarks to the Supreme Court for his own political gain.

"It is clear that the plank of the Congress campaign is based on spreading lies alone. Their desire to spread misinformation is only second to their ability to misguide the people," she said.

She said the contempt petition against the Congress leader was precipitated by a need to set the record straight.

Lamenting at the Congress leader, Lekhi said the Congress had failed to even flinch before politicising an institution that prides itself on pursuit of justice.

"While Singhvi, Advocate, submitted on behalf of Gandhi that 'I have made three errors. I accept. I wrongly attributed the statements to My Lord. I apologise", no written apology on oath was forthcoming from Rahul Gandhi".

Lekhi stated that Gandhi's expression of "regret" was without any meaning.

"This is manifest from the fact that the Congress and Gandhi, who are consistently represented in courts by a battery of lawyers, know fully well the stark difference between an apology and regret," she said.

    I salute this Gentleman RG!

True leader will not try to escape or justify even after he is realized that it was a mistake! Accepting mistakes is also essential quality of a leader

By the way this apology is not for his slogan of cho….r, but only for attributing this to SC

Here is the one who again and again proved that he is educated, cultured and matured by expressing regret and apologising to his mistake and the other one who was one of the master minds of Godhra massacre, Gujarat roits killing and till date not ready to accept his wrong doings and ask for forgiveness. This is the difference between an educated, cultured, matured person and an illiterate, uneducated, immatured (not keeping the decorum of the seat). Here no need to say which is applicable to whom.
For the past 5 years, people from BJP including our Chowkidar, understood that, to become famous take RGs name and try to malign him with false allegations. Over night they become popular. Big examples are Sambit Patra, Smrithi Irani and now this lady Meenakshi Lekhi. No one knew these big mouth people few years ago. Our Chowkidar too took credit by abusing Nehru-Gandhi family through his lies.

Hindrance to render an apology when it's due manifests just pseudo-ego. Having said that, has anyone heard of a word of apology over 100 odd deaths caused by blunder of the century called Demonetization or over the massive intelligence failure that resulted in Pulwama massacre?

Guilt or regret for attributing the "Chowkidhar.....ch....r Hey" by the decision of the court to take up Rafale Scam is the fact, but it will not dilute the charge of Rahul about the scam as PM is running away from any probe as his actions of removing the CBI chief in the night shows.
Prima facie PM & Ambani are caught in Crony Capitalism by the available facts which are in public domain.
Now when will PM apologize for the court for him attributing the previous decision of the same court in not taking up the case as "Clean Chit by Supreme Court"?
Now the liar part whole India knows who is indulging in fekuism since 5 years, no certificate gives clean chit here for anybody.

    Lekhi,
Apology is not guilt anymore, its a way to avoid going to court for the next 2 to 3 years to fight your case against the judges who are corrupt and sold. This is India. In any court agree to whatever you did not do , and come out of it.If you do not have experience of Courts ,check with one of the lawyers in Mangalore they will tell you the actual truth how our courts run.

Apology is a sign of great leadership, it's not at all a sign of guilt as she says.
One needs great courage to admit his mistake and accept that he is wrong.
One who keeps on telling lies and keeps defending himself is not a leader.
