New Delhi, May 1: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has claimed that BJP is trying to poach its seven MLAs and has offered them Rs 10 crore each to switch sides.
AAP quoted its leader Manish Sisodia saying, "Our 7 MLAs has been contacted by @BJP4India and they are being offered 10 crores each to leave AAP. I urge BJP to fight election on issues rather than doing this horse trading.”
"BJP has been trying to do this from last 4 years. In these 4 years, they have only succeeded once and everyone knows what happened after that, BJP had to bite the dust in bawana bypoll" Sisodia was quoted in another tweet.
Minister Development, Labour and Employment, General Administration, Govt of NCT Delhi Gopal Rai was also quoted by AAP on twitter saying, "BJP desperately trying to buy AAP MLAs gives a clear indication that BJP is losing all 7 seats in Delhi."
Delhi BJP media head Ashok Goyal dismissed the allegations and termed it as AAP’s attempt to remain relevant. He said that AAP is making allegations only to gain attention as it’s aware that it is losing elections.
Meanwhile, it’s not the first time BJP has been accused of poaching. AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal in 2014 had released a video of Rs 4 crore being offered to AAP leader Dinesh Mohania by BJP. In the video, a BJP leader asks Mohania to extend support to BJP to form government in Delhi.
Recently, Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee had condemned Modi for claiming that her 40 MLAs are ready to jump to BJP.
“Aren't you ashamed? You describe yourself as a protector of the constitution, but in spite of being in a constitutional position, you are violating it. You don't have any right to be the Prime Minister, ex-prime minister," she lashed out.
