Several surgical strikes executed during UPA: Congress

New Delhi, May 2 (IANS): With the BJP highlighting the issue of nationalism in the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress on Thursday said that multiple surgical strikes were carried out during the tenure of Congress-led UPA government.

Senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala said in a tweet: "Multiple surgical strikes took place during our tenure too. For us, military ops were meant for strategic deterrence & giving a befitting reply to anti-India forces than to be used for vote garnering exercises."

He also attached an interview of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh given to a national daily.

Giving a sequence of the surgical strikes during its tenure, the party said that on June 19, 2008, a military operation was carried in the Bhattal Sector in Poonch, while during August 30-September 1, 2011, Sharda Sector across Neelam River Valley in Kel (Pakistan-administered Kashmir) was targeted.

On January 6, 2013, a third surgical strike was carried out in which Sawan Patra checkpost in Pakistan was targeted, Surjewala said.

Between July 27 and 28, 2013, military operations were carried out in Nazapir Sector, on August 6, 2013, Neelam Valley was targeted, he added.

    Good health programs.
    Employment to all. (do no let any one t waste precious time.)
    Shelter for all.
    Toilets for all.
    Great Infrastructure.
    Boost ECONOMY to min av. to 10% annually.

    Manmohan Singh had done everything to safeguard the interest and security of this country. Only thing is that he did not use them for garnering votes like the present dispensation. Manmohan's economic programmes had developed the country and made it prosporous.

While you are our ex pm and we respect you for the post you once held, the fact is that you did not even have the power to utter a "meow" without Sonia Gandhi's permission...pathetic much? And now, to claim that surgical strikes took place in your tenure, that's laughable.

    First Cong didnt believe that India carried any surgical strike and repeatedely asked for proof of strike. But when painted with anti-national charges , now they come on claiming that they had carried out surgical strikes many times. Surgical strikes are not only meant to kill a few terrorists but also to expose Pakistan by taking a stand firmly and officialy from the stage. The strikes are a proof in itself that Pakistan is harbouring terrorists on its soil. It has put pakistan on backfoot in international arena. UPA leadership would never understand these things. All the UPA was worried was about its vote bank.

    Except for congress being lethargic and took corruption issue lightly, one can not find much other concerns with congress. Given current Modi regime, which claims as non-corrupt, pro-development and pro-growth, if Modi can claim this, then Congress is 100times better in comparison.

    Foreign Policy, Economic Policy never been compromised by any earlier govt's including that of PM Vajpayee. Modi flaunted all rules, just to impress other nations. Why China, Pak, US,UK, France all are happy with Modi? They know, Modi can steal orders from HAL, SAIL, BEL, DRDO, ...and give it them with high premium at tax payers expense, without loosing his own popularity within India.

    China, why put aside its objection now, when it had so many objection few days back? They got something substantial in return, may be Doklam which China transgressed in past 03years or a statue to build in china for India. Something for sure, as nothing changed in the past 04days.

    you are saying this because you have no issues to blame Modi Govt..since 2014 NDA has did good job, look at National / Internationla parameters...Elecricty available, No coal import now, ease of doing bussiness, inflation at lowest, Bank interest lowest, GST brougth all taxes..name a items which tax more than UPA regime, Internal security at best., EPFO adds more account, Housing affordable, .when no issues, create one..first time in History this election issue less..whatever good a Govt do, if corruption starts at highest point whole country will be doomed...thats why need Modi for another term, ..its not easy due to Ghatbhandan, lets see..

    if Congress did before they would have known seriouseness of action & wouldnt have asked proof giving Pak a propoganda tool....let Army say we conducted Surgicle strikes same like did in Modi regime...Army did but its not same like wht happened during NDA govt....many retired Army men durign debates said this..moreover, why anybody will believe Congress spokesperson who wont believe Army IAF & want proof...

    It was first bjp and modi gave this news , we have done surgical strick and gave the number of death , who gave them that numbers , infact army is telling we don't count dead and we don't know the numbers ,From the beginning modi is giving fake promises ,fake facts about development , till now bjp dint show the employment data , and there are many such data which must have shown yearly ,till now there is news.then who will believe bjp.
