New Delhi: BJP Promises to Rebuild Ram Temple

BJP

New Delhi, Apr 3: The BJP revived its pet Hindutva themes of rebuilding Ram temple at Ayodhya and abrogation of Article 370 giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir as it released its manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The saffron party also promised to give 35 kg rice per month at Rs two per kg for BPL families, which is seen as a counter to Congress' offer of rice at Rs three per kg. BJP also promised to make available wheat at Rs 3.5 per kg.

The BJP manifesto comes after 11 years as the party had released NDA manifestos along with its coalition partners in 1999 and 2004.

The BJP had then refrained from making any reference to the Ram Temple issue, saying it remained on the party's agenda but was not a part of the NDA's national agenda for governance. The party promised to enact strong POTA-like laws to tackle terrorism.

BJP also sought to reach out to the armed forces promising them exemption from income tax and introduce 'One Rank, One Pension' scheme. They also promised a separate pay commission for the armed forces.

In another populist promise, the party said it would raise the slab of tax exemption of salaried class to Rs three lakh per annum. For women, the limit would be Rs 3.5 lakh per annum.

Reaching out to farmers, the BJP said it will waive off all current loans and provide fresh loans at four per cent interest rate.

The BJP also vowed that it would not allow any damage to the Ram Sethu.

The BJP manifesto pledged to remove all illegal immigrants residing in the country and complete the fencing of the India-Bangladesh border.

It also promised to curb foreign funds for outfits promoting separatist ideologies and get back black money stashed in tax havens.

Addressing a press conference here, senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi said that it would be the party's endeavour to conduct the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections simultaneously.

Joshi, who was the head of the manifesto drafting committee, said that the party was in favour of smaller states and backed the separate state of Telengana.

BJP manifesto also promised promotion of alternative sources of energy with a focus on wind and solar energy.

Ramayana was written between 400BC & 200 BC. Up till 4th Century AD Brahminical Hindus used to pray inside the rock cut temples & not in any open place. So there is no chance of having any open temple to mark Ram Janmaboomi at Ayodhya during 400 BC era. Hence, Babar did not break any temple of Ram at Ayodhya.

Dear advaniji... politics should not be used as a tool for emotional plays..But rather rational approach towards India's growth. How come you make Rama rajya concept by playing with sentiments of hindu and Muslim by dividing them?

Before 1992 india was almost united but after Babri Masjid demolition the whole nation divided and thousands of people died in communal riots. No security for minorities and the whole nation is in mess. Let the court decide what has to be built by going through the facts and surveys.

BJP's manifesto is very impressive than any other parties manifesto. readers and media concentrates only on Rama and Hindutva issues. Why cant people comment on so many other good points mentioned in BJP manifesto. Today only two parties can rule India, either congress or BJP. BJP is having many controversial issues in their manifesto, but if I look into last 5 years ruling by Congress led govt, BJP is much better party to rule india and BJP is definitely My Choice.

Oh Advani please keep your mouth shut before the elections. First try to build a united India and not temples, masjids, churches.Anyway you don't stand a chance to win this years elections, the reason is you try to divide India on caste and community. We have seen this by your partys performance in Karnataka State. So please keep your mouth shut!

What a shame! A National party which ruled the union government for 6 years (NDA) still sticking to its one point programme - building Sri Rama Temple. What can you expect more from this party. A political party which is dreaming to assume power, instead of stressing on constructive, progressive and visionary development plans, tries to fool Indian voters by communal triumph card. Is building a temple is of a Goverment's duty or priority? Is there no one else who can do this? In our district, people themselves contribute and construct/reconstruct temples unitedly. It's disgusting that BJP is still sticking to its old dirty game - provoking people's religious sentiments - to gain vote bank. Will India progress ever?

In this recession, even God Rama might come to earth and say please don't build the temple. Sometimes I feel this temple should have been built long ago , so that we need not hear this every 5 years.
