Mamata confronts BJP supporters shouting 'Jai Sree Ram'

Kolkata, May 5 (IANS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday got angry at a group of purported BJP supporters shouting "Jai Sree Ram" in front of her convoy in West Midnapore district's Chandrakona.

The slogan is frequently used by the leaders and activists of the saffron party.

A video circulated on social media platform Whatsapp showed the Chief Minister stepping out from her vehicle in a bid to confront the people who fled at seeing the convoy stop.

The incident took place at Ballavpur village near Chandrakona town on Saturday afternoon when the Trinamool Congress supremo was coming back after holding an election rally in the district's Ghatal constituency in support of her party's Lok Sabha candidate Dev.

"Come here. Why are you guys running away? Come here," said Banerjee, clearly infuriated by the locals' behaviour.

She also alleged that some of the people gathered on both sides of the road were using abusive language.

    Modi way of stirring troubles and creating bad blood among public by instigating and provoking to bring political turmoil and spoil TMC name for his own benefit. By any means, Modi/Amit Shah/Yogi want to break the unity of West Bangla people.
    There is proverb if at all cockroach whiskers find a gap it will ensure that whole cockroach will sneak inside. However, Mamata is smart and courageous to resist Modi’s vicious political approach.

    How emergency ? Would Modi like chanting 'Jai Mamta-Di' or 'Congress-ki-Jai Ho' ??? When his convoy passes ? That is Emergency - not Didi's stopping to talk to the group.

    Sri Ram is not Modi's puppet (apologies to the term) - anybody can chant the name anytime - why only when a non-BJP party's convoy passes ? Especially at such times ? Why even chant 'Sri-Ram' at all on the roads ? Won't you call 'conversion' as soon as somebody shouts about 'Jesus' or 'Allah' standing on a roadside ???

    No, incompetent people using Gods name for rescue, power and wealth! Those incompetent are scared of TMC and Mamtha and they call it emergency!!? They will realise sooner or later as people dump them noting they misused God for their personal and party gain! You can not fool all the people all the time!
