Rajiv Gandhi used INS Viraat for vacations: Narendra Modi

New Delhi, May 8 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday accused then Prime Minster Rajiv Gandhi of using aircraft carrier INS Viraat and its personnel for vacations with his foreign in-laws.

He raked up the issue at a rally here to counter the attack by Congress leaders who say that defence forces have been politicised by the BJP, citing remarks by BJP leaders that "Modi ki sena" had carried out airstrikes on a terror camp in Pakistan.

"Who has been treating the forces as personal property? ...have you ever heard that a family goes on a warship for holiday? This has happened in our country. The 'naamdar' family used INS Viraat as personal property. They insulted it," Modi said.

INS Viraat was withdrawn from its place of deployment and sent to fetch the in-laws of Rajiv Gandhi and taken to an island where nobody was there to welcome them and all arrangements for them were made by the personnel of the aircraft carrier, he alleged.

The holiday continued not for one day but for 10 days during which the warship remained stationed there, Modi added.

The Prime Minister then asked whether presence of "foreigners on the warship did not amount to playing with the security of the country. Or was it allowed just because he was Rajiv Gandhi?"

He also raked up the issue of anti-Sikh riots in Delhi during the Congress rule at the rally held to seek support for BJP candidates for the parliament elections in Delhi.

Delhi will go for polling on May 12.

Modi is loosing his mental balance as the day of his departure from Politics is fast approaching. All his statements in recent days suggest his deep frustration at the prospect of loosing the elections. From being an asset in 2014 to the BJP and the country, he is now becoming a great liability for the BJP and the country.

He first talked about Rajiv being Corrupt No 1 and this statement was condemned by one and all across our country for dragging Matyrs and dead people in his greed to win the elections. He now talks aboout Rajiv Gandhi using Viraat as taxi. The Indian Navy takes the PM for a day at sea and so not a big deal. Foreign Military attaches are taken on board our naval ships for excercises during such a day at sea. Modi has become infaous of indulging in slander, Lies and Falsehoods. No one believes him any more and the longer he stays in power will result in diminising returns for the BJP and our Beloved Country.

Whether he likes it or not. His time in Politics is over. He has lost the trust of the people.

A Naval officer died after a fire broke out onboard INS Vikramaditya when it was entering the harbour in Karnataka's Karwar.

This incident happens when PM Modi is still Prime Minister of Modi. Instead of safeguarding the interest of the defense, our prime minister Modi evoking the late Rajiv Gandhi who died to terror.

If there is nothing to woo for votes, PM Modi and BJP will not even spare martyrdom of soldiers and late Prime Minister.

PM Modi foreign trips are a drain on our economy. He is enjoying in other lands instead of solving our country problems.
What is the total expenditure on the foreign trips of the Prime Minister in the last 5 years?

PM Modi's travel costs for 92 nations in 55 months Rs 2,021 crore. He is currently at the tally of 92 nations including repeated visits. PM Modi's per nation trip cost comes to almost Rs 22 crore. His most expensive chartered flight was during his 9-day visit to France, Germany, and Canada in 2015.
In comparison to PM Modi's term (5 months short of 5 years), Manmohan Singh's 50 odd trips during UPA II's five-year term cost almost Rs 1,350 crore.
Let's not forget late PM Rajiv Gandhi died for this nation assassinated through terror organization LTTE that even 28 years still remains mystery and BJP's Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swami and Godman Chandra Swami holds more secret than anyone in the BJP-RSS circle.

A prime minister Modi, who is known for seeking votes in the name of martyrs by insulting their martyrdom disrespected a martyr in his uncontrolled madness.
While Rajiv Gandhi assassinated by LTTE terror, this is the same BJP in 2019 had an alliance with Tamil parties like PMK and MDMK that openly supported the Tamil Elam.

Modi has lost it all. Very soon going to be EX PM. So he is desperate and it shows.

If INS Virat was anchoring in Italy at the time PM Rajiv was in italy as PM of India Rajiv had every right to visit it in Italy.

If any one takes Modi seriously then hear it loudly, PM Rajiv was away from the country 45days sailing in Navy ship with fly..in a war ship. It is absolute lie.

I think even aged BJP marg Darshak mandal will have problem now giving an entry to Modi.

This is a best idea. Leave everything and blame dead persons. Because they cannot come and give clarification.
Same like fake encounter. After death innocent person cannot come and say that I was innocent. Sometimes police get promotion and sometimes money from opposite party.

Feku can't digest the truth that he is never going to be PM again.
All the achievements by his government on social media only.

Modi Sir, tell us something about what you achieved in these 5 years. We are more interested to hear that and not interested to know what happened 25 or 50 years back. The people don't want to live in the past. Let us talk about the present times, how the people are going to benefit and the advantages that are going to accrue to all of us. Let us talk about the ache din, about employment, about improvement in the business environment and such things. We all know what happened in the past, we all know how corrupt the Congress has been and wasn't that the only reason the people elected you? Please talk about what you did to justify the confidence the people reposed in you. Like an old broken record, this man goes around asking what Rajiv did or what his mother did or what her father did. They are all dead and gone. God will question them and ask them what they did or didn't do. We want to hear about the vikas or the development you promised. That is nowhere to be seen. Talk about that Modi Sir.

A PM of the country with make-believe-stories just to get even with allegations on him but he can not fool people now. A lie to cover up another lie has been his campaign for this election. Desparate moments calls for desparate measures. BTW, during Rajiv Gandhi's tenure INS Viraat wasn't in commission.
