Mangalore, Apr 8:
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) alleged that delivering hate speeches is an agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to divert people’s attention from real problems such as price rise and economic slowdown.

Addressing media persons at the election office here on Tuesday April 7, state secretary G N Nagaraj said that BJP and Congress party have common economic and foreign policies. They are just like a double-headed snake. “They have created employment in India by introducing globalization and privatization”, he alleged.

He claimed that the BJP and Congress candidates in Mangalore constituency have no knowledge of the economic slowdown. He asked if they have spoken about solutions to the recession instead of hate speeches.

Nagaraj pointed out that the CPI (M) believes that terrorism can be curbed only after alleviation of communalism. “The party clearly says that the school syllabus should be free from any kind communal elements. A law should be enacted to punish communal organizations and to provide compensations to the victims of communal riots”, he added.

Earlier, inaugurating the election office, he said that continued atrocities on minorities, attacks on women, and desecration of churches, had tarnished the real image of Mangalore city. Nagaraj stated that the Third Front has decided to contest in the election to bring back the glory of the city.

He claimed that the Congress party has been a silent spectator to the communal tensions engineered by the BJP and the Sangh Parivar in the coastal districts. “It has lost the strength to defeat communal forces. There is contribution from the Congress in the growth of the BJP in the region”, he alleged.

Nagaraj said that the CPI (M) had come out against the attack on freedom of press, inadequate water supply, and other such problems.

JD (S) district president Balaraj Rai also spoke on the occasion. Third Front candidate B Madhava, and K R Shriyan were also present.
