New Delhi, May 9: President of AICC, Rahul Gandhi is all set to pull Jagan Mohan Reddy, chief of YSR Congress and Chandrashekar Rao of TRS, who are mooting the formation of a third front of political parties other than BJP and Congress, to the mahagathbandhan.
According to reliable sources Rahul Gandhi has appealed to former PM Deve Gowda to mediate with Chandrashekhar Rao and Jagan Mohan Reddy. Rahul Gandhi has already collected information from Chandrashekar Rao, H D Deve Gowda and Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy and he has opined that it is better for TRS and YSR Congress to join the mahagathbandhan than forming a non-BJP third front in order to keep BJP out of power.
Rahul Gandhi has informed Devegowda that if needed, the name of the alliance parties can be changed if TRS, YSR Cogress, SP, BSP, TMC, BJD, AAP and leftist parties join the mahagathbandhan. Then the force that will emerge will be a really strong one against the BJP, opined Rahul Gandhi.
It is also learnt that Rahul Gandhi has spoken to DMK chief Stalin but he has not agreed to meet Chandrashekhar Rao as DMK is already with mahagathbandhan.
According to some other sources, Deve Gowda is mulling that if he is able to play a stellar role in uniting the non-BJP parties at the national level, it will be easier to continue the rule of JD (S) in the state of Karnataka. Even if non-BJP parties are not able to form the government at the centre, it is possible to form a strong group of regional parties, whereby the interests of individual states can be taken care of.
Only time will tell whether the calculations of Rahul Gandhi and Deve Gowda will bear fruit.
