Supreme Court rejects plea on Rahul Gandhi’s alleged dual citizenship

New Delhi, May 9 (IANS): SC rejects plea on Rahul Gandhi citizenship The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a plea on Congress President Rahul Gandhi's citizenship.

A Bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justices Deepak Gupta and Sanjiv Khanna rejected the petition.

"Some company in some form has mentioned Rahul Gandhi as a British citizen, so does he become a British citizen? Dismissed," CJI Gogoi said.

The court was hearing the petition moved by two activists seeking direction to the Home Ministry to decide on the matter and it also sought the disqualification of Gandhi from contesting the Lok Sabha polls.

The Home Ministry issued a notice to Gandhi on April 29 to clarify his nationality within a fortnight after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Subramanian Swamy alleged that he was a British national.

Swamy in his representation to the Home Ministry alleged that Gandhi served as one of the Directors and Secretary of the British firm Backops Ltd, which is registered in the UK since 2003, with address 51 Southgate Street, Winchester, Hampshire.

Rahul is a honest man and fit to be a young PM of India. BJP and Modi try their best to get rid of him but will not succeed.

Modi is under the impression that by twisting his tongue and blasting his senseless speeches he is a position to influence people to believe him. No ways at all.

Senseless Subbu Swamy aur ek baar chowpat hogaya. Everyday some or the other Jhatka Feku and the gang is getting from everywhere. Hamare feku bhakth kahan chup gaye. As it was said, the more you try to suppress a spring, it will bounce back with double power. So is RG. Feku and his team and all the bhakths were once used to make fun of him that, he is an asset of BJP. But day by day Feku gang is making RG more popular and powerful by their silly allegations and cheap rated criticism. We thank the whole Feku Gang and the brainless bhakths for giving much popularity to RG.

BJP is boasting about Modi tsunami and from inside they are chicken. How many ways they are trying to fix him and try to spoil Gandhi fly name but every thing is not working a they play their vicious games. Modi is totally upset and worried and the signs of desperation are visible from his face and the venom his spews all around. Of late he is not in his normal sense. Abnormal behavior has over taken him.

where is the verdict? the petition is dismissed. it never said, he is a Indian and ruled that in the judgement. MHA will do its enquiry, and Swamy can file a petition with its findings. for this Rahul has to go and depose before the ministry. Its not courts job to give citizenship (its MHA/MEA that can give you citizenship), nor give any ruling on ones citizenship. the plea here was his candidature for election to be dismissed. why you give half baked info when you nothing about the law?

My big salute to Supreme Court. The more some people are trying their level best to bring Rahul Gandhi down, the more his status is gaining. He is a true Indian citizen and he has proved it.
