Puttur: Baby gets trapped inside locked car, rescued

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, May 10: A child got trapped inside a car after its doors got locked. The incident made the parents of the child and onlookers panicky. However, the mechanics of the car showroom, who arrived sometime later, succeeded in bringing the child out by breaking open the rear door.

The parents of the child had come here to visit a textiles showroom. They parked their car and went to the showroom, leaving behind the small baby inside the car. The child got hold of the car key and began to play with it. When the parents came back, they realized that the doors of the car were locked. They grew anxious and conveyed information to others with the hope of finding some solution. As a crowd gathered at the car, the child turned tense and began to wail.

At last, as no other option was found feasible, the technicians of a car showroom in the city were called to help. They broke open the glass of the rear door of the car and succeeded in rescuing the child that was trapped inside.

This is nothing but a crime waiting to happen. Leave a small child in the car with the engine running for the air-conditioning. A stranger approaches, open the door & drives away with the car & child, what happens next. Condolences to the family? The parents are lucky this time. There may not be a next.

The police MUST make leaving the car running with a minor inside an offense. IMMEDIATELY.

Rita, in other words you can say it's "show off", in kannada "ದೊಡ್ಡಸ್ತಿಕೆ", "ವಡ್ಪಣ್" In konkani... Yes, if that child is that much over burdened let them give someone who is childless.. There are so many couples who long for a child.. That much sense they don't have to break open the glass and save the child?? For that also they need technicians is it? Thank god child is safe Disgusting

Irresponsible parents, how dare they leave their little child in the car & go shopping. They even want to call car company to open the car. I would have just broken a glass open to save a child. How gross & careless few people can be. So their shopping & car is more valuable and important than child. Un-imaginable parents.
There have been quite a number of incidents where children have died of suffocation inside cars / buses. Haven't these parents read all that?
    Thank God, child is safe.

Irresponsible parents to leave a child alone in a car. The father of the baby is stupid to leave the keys of the car in the vehicle.

I would break open the glass window without thinking twice even if it was not my child.
Idiot father/Mother value their car more than the child.
    Sad!!

Very well said by you.. What type of parents are they leaving the keys inside? Very shocking to read... Parents are worried more about shopping and the car than the child!

The "quarter glass", a small window in the rear or the front sides of the car helps to break and open the door in such situations. I too was in the same situation in Bahrain when my daughter of 3 yo locked herself in the car while I was keeping transferring groceries from shopping cart to my car. The policemen in Bahrain mall immediately break the Quarter glass and freed my daughter.

It was a hot summer day so we didn’t waste a moment thinking she may get suffocated due to no air circulation.

The lesson learned that day: never keep your keys in the car when you get down.

Irresponsible parents to leave the child in a closed car with key inside. Mechanics / public should have broken all the glasses to teach a lesson to the child`s parents. Leaving the children in a closed car is very dangerous as it can lead to death due to suffocation or presence of carbon monoxide from the engine exhaust.
