Wikipedia page of author vandalised after Time 'divider' cover story on Modi

Daijiworld Media Network

New Delhi, May 10: The Wikipedia page of the author who wrote a critical story on Prime Minister Narendra Modi was repeatedly edited and misleading information was added.

Aatish Taseer who wrote cover story for TIME magazine featuring PM Modi with the words ‘India’s divider-in-chief’ is being targeted for his article.

Taseer is a British-born journalist and writer. However, someone edited Taseer’s description on Wikipedia and falsely added he is working as 'PR manager for Indian National Congress'.

Edited Wikipedia page

The edited Wikipedia page was later tweeted by pro-BJP social media user, Chowkidar Shashank Singh.

Sharing a screenshot, Singh tweeted, “so this guys Aatish Taseer works as PR manager for Indian National Congress. No doubt Time magazine has lost their credibility and has become mouthpiece of Leftist (sic).”

The tweet has already been retweeted over 800 times. Some of the BJP supporters themselves replied to the tweet decrying the editing.

Meanwhile, Alt-News shared screenshots of the Wikipedia page edit history, which clearly shows that the page was repeatedly targeted on May 10.

Currently Taseer’s page is ‘protected’, due to ‘persistent disruptive editing’.
