Pitroda must apologise for anti-Sikh riots remark: Rahul

Khanna (Punjab), May 13 (IANS): Congress leader Sam Pitroda, who had courted controversy for his remark in connection with the anti-Sikh riots of 1984, should be ashamed and must apologise to the nation, party President Rahul Gandhi said on Monday.

"Sam Pitroda's comment is wrong. For this, he should feel ashamed. He has to apologise to the country," he said at an election rally in this Punjab town.

Gandhi said he called Pitroda on the phone and asked him to issue an apology.

The Congress chief was accompanied by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh at the rally in this town, which is known for the largest grain market in Asia as it gets millions of tonnes of produce from Punjab's agricultural fields.

The 1984 anti-Sikh riots have been a sensitive issue for people of Punjab, mainly the Sikhs, and is likely to damage the Congress' prospects in the state that will go to the polls in the last phase of the Lok Sabha polls on Sunday.

Pitroda, the Indian Oversees Congress chief, had brushed off the 1984 anti-Sikh riots by saying, "hua toh hua" (it just happened).

On May 10, he apologised saying that what he said was "completely twisted and taken out of context because my Hindi isn't good".

His apology came after Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Sikh organisations slammed him for his comment.

Rahul Gandhi is asking Sam Pitroda to feel ashamed and ask apology from the people for his remarks on 1984 riots.
What about Mr. Rahul Gandhi himself for his shameful remarks against Narendra Modi under false reference of Supreme Court ?
Why he has not yet asked apology from the people of the country for his misleading statements ?

Sri Rajiv Gandhi said that whenever a big tree falls, the earth is shaken. For me this is HIGHLY insensitive! And he took no steps to punish the congressmen responsible for the massacre of Sikhs!
Now Sam Pitrodaji said whatever happened, happened. Exactly as insensitive as Rajivji.
And one person said to be responsible for this massacre us CM in M.P.
All the citizens will never forgive this insensitiveness of the Congressmen!
Apologies not acceptable! Strong punishment is bound to be there!

He must apologize. I agree with you.
But before that modi must apologize for the genocide which took place in Gujarat in 2002. Sakshi maharaj , Pragya takhur kind of so called leaders have spewed venom against minorities. They have to apologize for their wrongdoing.

Mr Rahul Gandhi is such a clean gentleman and a intelligent politician and would be PM. It is really assuring to see he asking his own men to apologize and do the right thing for bad mouthing and for lose talk. Modi and Amit Shah should learn from Rahul Gandhi these moral and ethical values. If man is clean his governance too will be clean.
