Mumbai, May 15: Air India is probing allegations of sexual harassment made by a woman pilot against the commander of the airline.
Air India said it is looking into an incident that happened on 5 May in Hyderabad during dinner at a restaurant in the city where the two went on the persistence of the commander.
As per the TOI report, the women pilot’s complaint says, "The instructor reportedly suggested the two to have dinner at a city restaurant in Hyderabad on May 5 after the training session was over. I agreed as I had done a few flights with him and he seemed decent. We went to a restaurant at around 8 pm and this is where my ordeal started."
During the dinner, the man allegedly started asking personal questions about her marriage.
“He started with telling me how depressed and unhappy he was in his married life. He also asked me how I coped with my husband living away and whether I didn’t need to have sex every day... At some point, I told him I did not want to talk about all this and called a cab,” the complaint by the woman said as per ANI sources.
It is reported that the commander continued to harass her even after the dinner and sent her text messages threatening that he would come to her room.
Air India spokesperson has said that the airline has initiated a high level inquiry into the matter.
