Mayawati says Modi 'unfit' to hold office

Lucknow, May 15 (IANS): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Mayawati on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modis tenure had been full of violence and hence he was ‘unfit for the office he holds.

Mayawati termed Modi's legacy as Chief Minister of Gujarat a "stain on the BJP and country".

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi was indeed the Chief Minister of Gujarat for a longer time than I was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh but his legacy is a blot on the BJP and the country while in my regime Uttar Pradesh was free of riots and anarchy," she said.

Mayawati further said that her government was ‘fit' when it came to matters of public interest while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been ‘unfit'.

"Modi's term as a Prime Minister as well as Chief Minister was full of violence. He is unfit to hold the public office," she said.

She also scoffed at the Prime Minister for calling BSP - ‘Behenji ki Sampatti Party'.

"Whatever the national President of BSP has, it has been given by well-wishers and the society, and nothing is hidden from the government," she said and added that the incumbent government sweeps all its bad deeds under the carpet.

Stepping up her attack, she accused the BJP of having the most corrupt members. "BJP has a disease of calling other parties corrupt. The nation knows that the most corrupt people belong to their party."

"Modi was honest only on paper and tries to project a new image before the people," Mayawati said.

"The Modi government is anti-Dalit and have been trying to defame the BSP since the past five years. They have failed because the BSP is an open book but Dalits should beware of their motives," she said.

Stepping up her attack on Modi and his party, she accused the BJP of having the most corrupt members. "BJP has a disease of calling other parties corrupt. The nation knows that the most corrupt people belong to their party."

Modi had his chance. He emerged as monumental failure for the country. That is what makes him unfit.

It is in one side his promises, youth getting 2crore jobs per year, Petrol for less price, farmers getting double MSP, terrorist silenced in their hatchery, river ganga cleaning, cost of living will be cheaper, corrupt to be behind bars, women's security etc. etc. name it and he has promised something.

There is not a single promise he really kept.

The worse thing, what has happened is he tried to destroy institutions that safe guard the interest of the country. Supreme Court, EC, ED, IT, RBI, Planning Commission, CBI, defense forces all are today forced to act as per Modi's wishes, rather than work for the country. This is tragic and condemn able.

Weakness of these institutions has pushed farmers distress, unemployment, social dis-harmony, increased foreign debt, public sector going bankrupt almost etc. etc.
