Youth injured in Baramulla clashes dies

Srinagar, May 16 (IANS): A 23-year-old youth, injured in clashes with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district earlier this week, died at a hospital here on Thursday.

Doctors at the super specialty Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar said Arshad Ahmad Dar, 23, who was admitted for treatment succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.

Dar was injured in clashes with the security forces in Pattan area of Baramulla district on Monday when scores of protesters blocked the Srinagar-Baramulla highway.

The clashes broke out during the ongoing valley-wide protests against the rape of a three-year-old girl in Bandipora district on May 8.

Authorities have imposed curfew like restrictions in Pattan and some other areas of Baramulla and Bandipora districts on Thursday to maintain law and order in the wake of the youth's death.
