Dubai: Daiji Utsav : Artistes Arrive - Event Heading for Packed House

Dubai, Apr 15: The final countdown has begun for Daiji Dubai's ambitious decennial event, 'Daiji Utsav,' to be held at Shiekh Rashid Auditorium on April 17, 2009.
As preparations are going ahead with full force, artistes have started arriving from Mumbai, Mangalore and Kuwait.
Keny Zuzarte was the first to arrive from Mumbai last night, followed by the music director of the evening Adrian Gomes, who came from Kuwait. Singer Anita Samson and comedian Jerry Rasquinha, Joseph D’Souza, Nellu Permannur and Alwyn Vegas also arrived here at around mid-night from Mangalore.
Daiji Dubai convener Hemacharya, event co-ordinator and founder convener Dayan D'souza, Daiji Rang Mandir's Micky Castelino, Daijiworld's Walter Nandalike, Ramcy Fernandes and others were present at the airport to receive the artistes.
Rony D'Cunha and Vinay Lewis from Kuwait will arrive on April 16, 2008.
At the same time, according to the organizers, there are hardly another 300 tickets left for the show, in the huge auditorium having a capacity of 1,500.
"Once again there is going to be a huge last-minute demand, but we are afraid, whether we would be able to accommodate everyone, as only a very few tickets are left with us. The demand was really on full swing, right from the day the show was announced on daijiworld," said Hemacharya, Daiji Dubai convener, who leads Daiji Dubai Writers' Forum in the 10th successful year.
"We have given maximum priority for the entertainment part in this event, as this is the first Konkani event to be presented in Dubai after a long gap, as during some recent events, entertainment had not been given a place of priority. People need a break and we hope we will deliver top class music and comedy events," he said.
As announced earlier, Grace Pinto, managing director of Ryan International group will be the guest of honour for the event. Also key leaders of the community and various associations from around the gulf and Bangalore are expected to grace the event.
Daiji Dubai annual award presentation and Daijiworld Weekly first regular issue release will be also be part of the decennial celebrations of Daiji Dubai.
